Instagram down in my area only?
Sometimes Instagram fails in one region while it works elsewhere. That can come from a problem at a local internet provider, or at one of the data centers that serve your area. Open the outage map on Downdetector's Instagram page and zoom in on your city. A tight cluster near you, with a calm map elsewhere, points to a regional issue.
If the map is calm everywhere and only you have trouble, it is your phone, network, or account. Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data is the quickest way to tell which.
What to do while Instagram is down
- Do not keep posting. Failed uploads can create duplicates once the app recovers.
- Save drafts of captions or Reels in your notes or camera roll.
- Do not reset your password because of an outage. It will not help, and codes may not arrive.
- Ignore "fix" offers. Scammers post fake support links during big outages. Instagram will never DM you for your password.
