Discord not connecting fix
If Discord works for others, try these in order:
- Quit Discord fully. On Windows, right-click the tray icon and pick Quit. Then reopen it.
- Reload to update: press Ctrl + R on Windows or Cmd + R on Mac.
- Turn off your VPN or proxy.
- Stuck on "RTC Connecting"? Change the voice region in the call settings.
- Allow Discord in your firewall and antivirus.
- Restart your router, then reinstall Discord if needed.

Discord Status posts incidents in stages. Each label tells you how close the fix is.

Discord errors that look like an outage
- "Awaiting endpoint" or "RTC connecting": voice cannot connect. Usually a firewall, VPN, or voice region issue.
- Grey screen or endless loading: Discord cannot reach its gateway. Reload with Ctrl+R, then check your network.
- "Message failed to load": a channel or server is having trouble. Try another channel.
- "You are being rate limited": you sent too many requests. Wait a few minutes. It is not an outage.
- Stuck on update: the updater failed. Quit Discord fully, then delete and reinstall it.
Why is Discord down today? Big events and gaming launches
Discord's busiest moments line up with gaming. A huge game launch, a new season, or a big live event brings millions of people into voice and chat at once. That traffic can slow Discord down even when nothing is broken. Problems at Discord's cloud providers can also hit it, along with many other apps.

Discord down in my area?
Discord voice runs in regions, so a voice outage can hit one part of the world while others chat fine. Check which regions Discord Status lists, and look at the Downdetector map for a cluster near you. Picking a different voice region in the call settings often gets you back in.
What to do while Discord is down
Move your group to a backup, like a group text or the game's built-in voice chat. Server owners can post a note on another platform. Do not reinstall Discord during an outage. You will just have to log in again, and login may be the part that is broken. Check Discord Status every 15 minutes until it says resolved.

What does "RTC Connecting" mean on Discord?
It means Discord cannot set up the voice connection. It is often caused by a firewall, VPN, or router setting, not an outage. Try changing the voice region in the call settings, or turn off your VPN.
Why does Discord work on my phone but not my PC?
That usually means the Discord app on your PC is the problem. Close it fully from the system tray, then open it again. If it still fails, clear Discord’s cache folder or reinstall the app.
Is Discord down for everyone right now?
Check Discord Status. If it shows an incident, Discord is down for many people. If it is all green and Downdetector is calm, the problem is likely on your side.
Why is Discord stuck on the loading screen?
An endless loading screen often means Discord cannot reach its gateway. If Discord Status is green, reload with Ctrl+R or Cmd+R, then turn off your VPN. On school or work Wi-Fi, Discord may be blocked.
Why is Discord voice not working but chat is?
