About this guide

downdetectorapp.com is a free, independent guide to service outages in the US. We explain how to use Downdetector, how to read its reports, and how to fix problems when an app, website, or network stops working.

Independent guide. Not affiliated with Downdetector or Ookla. We are not owned by, paid by, or connected to Downdetector, Ookla, or Accenture.

What we do

  • Explain outages in plain English, without hype.
  • Link you to the official sources for live data: Downdetector and each service's own status page.
  • Give step-by-step fixes for when the problem is on your side.

What we do not do

  • We do not show live outage data. This site is fully static, so every page links to live sources instead.
  • We do not collect your reports, accounts, or personal data.
  • We do not ask for passwords, codes, or payment. If anyone claiming to be us does, it is a scam.

Who runs this site

Downdetector App Guide is an independent site run by Shen Cha. It has no investors, sponsors, or advertisers. You can reach us at hello@downdetectorapp.com.

How we keep pages accurate

We only list outages that an official status page or a trusted news source has confirmed, and we link to the source. Daily pages, like Downdetector live and internet outage today, show the date they were last updated. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
